It’s the most wonderful time in the world. The Premier League is BACK! As if the summer didn’t already feel enough of a waste, only at its close does life spring back into the footballing world. First, the Arsenal vs Crystal Palace sent our hearts racing, beating as one with the feet of Jesus and Zaha driving at each other’s back line. Then, in true Prem fashion, title contenders Liverpool give up a goal to newly promoted Fulham, before sluggishly finishing out their match in a 2-2 draw.
It truly is the most captivating sport being played in one of the most enthralling leagues in the world. Former giants finding their feet, present goliaths stunned by crosses flung like rocks from slings. And that’s only the first two matches into the over three hundred to be played throughout the Premier League this season. That’s over three hundred matches for the ever looming, most coveted, Premier League trophy.
Along the way Prem teams will play in the likes of the FA Cup and The EFL Cup. There’s also The Community Shield(already won, by Liverpool, before the start of the season), The Champions League, The Europa League, and possibly the Club World Cup.
But it all starts with Match Day 1. Here’s where the clubs stand after this season’s first outing.
- Man City
- Manchester United
- Aston Villa
- Crystal Palace
- Nottingham Forest
The biggest surprises here has to be miserable Manchester United falling to a beaming Brighton and Hove, and league winner hopefuls Liverpool drawing to newly promoted Fulham. Most everything else shakes out to where one would expect. Based on teams showing in the first matches, who do you think makes the top 4 come the end of the season? Let us know in the comments.
